Put the install disk in the disk drive. Then restart the computer while holding down the C button. This will start the computer from the disk drive and you can reformat the drive and install the OS a new copy of what ever operating system you have. When it is finished you won't need a password. I have done it on 10.4.5 and 9.0.1 and it has worked fine.
