Grrrr.

"Clarus" is a whimsical takeoff on "Claris," which apparently did not
exist until 1987, years after the dogcow was created.

IIRC, Moof was both the sound and the name for the first few years.

In a fit of revisionist history, Apple issued a Technical Note on the
animal in 1989.
