I can't think of any reason why a PRAM reset would screw up anything,  
why not try that.

If something has gotten 'out of step' in the PRAM values, that would  
give it a chance to straighten out.

Don't now for certain, but I'd try it.

Something else I thought of, is it possible to get the thing  
operating in 'verbose' mode. If you can, the on screen messages might  
tell you what is happening.
