Followup on this query. No one responded and I've had no success
reviving this eMac. Several repairmen told me the symptoms sound
like
a faulty logic board or a bad hard disk. I'm not inclined to attempt
a fix
myself and have bought a new 24" iMac Core 2 Duo to replace it.
(By the way, the iMac is a wonderfully speedy machine!)
This eMac, including the two added 512 MB RAM cards, is available
through
April 3 for shipping costs to anyone who would like to have it, as I
have no
room to store it. It is in East Tennessee and weighs 50 pounds. It
has
a 1.0 GHz G4 CPU, 60 GHz hard drive, Combo optical drive (CD read/
write,
DVD read), PC-133 RAM, USB 1.1
The April 3 deadline arises because on April 4 my city will have a
recycling
event for old computer equipment, and I will be giving away the eMac
for
recycliing on that day. If you want it, email me promptly:
halbertm at esper dot com.
I will also be recycling a slot-loading G3 iMac DV SE with faulty
display circuitry,
probably a bad flyback transformer. This iMac works for five to ten
minutes
after it is powered up, but then the display begins to go haywire and
soon the
machine freezes. If you want it, let me know by April 3.
