Well, since you can boot from a USB HDD, booting from a solid state  
flash drive should work too. If you have a bootable WIndows Xp  
install, os x install or installer, or linux install or installer, it  
should boot fine. Use Startup Disk from System Preferences to chose  
which drive or optical disk to boot from. Good luck!
