...You could plug the USB HD directly into your Mac. I assume it's the
iMac in your signature? Unless it's a 90's Mac, it should have USB.
Macs will read PC formatted HD's.
Alternately, you could use the PC to copy the files, Windows isn't so
restrictive about permissions, and might just copy those files that
the Mac doesn't have permissions for.
Another solution would be to find that certain .pub file, and either
change the permissions on it so you can read and write to it, or just
delete it if it's not important. I'm not quite sure exactly what
a .pub file is, but it sounds like you're copying a system file over.
You could just copy the information, if you're not trying to get the
whole system. You can try googling the error message, along with a
brief description of the problem, or just google the whole error
message (exactly).
