The trouble here is only that I am a certified and devout cheapskate,
and do not have any more gold coins lurking under the sofa cushions.
So if the parallel-to-USB cable option is not reliable--and has anyone
here ever tried one? I'm only hearing rumors that such a cable
_should_ work, or that it _might_ work but don't hold your breath--
then I will see about finding a secondhand router for whatever I
absolutely have to fork over. Yes, I saw over the weekend that Dealmac
listed a Brother laser printer for $80, but that's still $80 more than
the laser printer I have already...which works very well, thank you.

And a related question: assuming I get a router and connect the 12/640
to it via ethernet, are there any issues with using an ethernet cable
that's 15 feet long or maybe even a bit more? (Something else I'd have
to buy.) That's about how far apart the router and the printer would
be.

Thanks again! Bill
