So just an update: A friend of mine has an iMac G5 with a working PSU, so he let me borrow his PSU and stick it in my iMac. Fantastic news. It's just the PSU that has issues. Got a successful boot with his PSU. So I'm going to buy the Jim Warholic caps and follow is instructions to replace all that. Wish me luck!
