The suggestion I would make is from a unix standpoint.

Open terminal(in Applications/Terminal)

change to the directory containing your music folder.

sudo cp - R (name of music folder) ~
sudo chmod -R 777 (name of music folder)


That will give you access to the folder in your home directory on your mac
book.
