I would call Apple again, isn't this a known problem with this model?  My 
logic board went out on my IMac, one of the last with the Motorola chip - and 
Apple replaced mine with the Intel chip version, as they could not get the part 
for mine at that time - I would nicely ask them for help with this - and if 
they absolutely refuse, keep asking for a higher manager - as a last resort, 
maybe say you will bring it to the attention of the BBB -
