I have an Intel iMac (24" Mid 2007) running 10.6.2. Earlier this day I
was moving files from an External Hard Disk Drive (EHDD) via the
iMac's FireWire (FW) 800 port to another EHDD via the iMac's FW 400
port and copying a video from a camcorder (iMovie) via FW 400
connected to the EHDD connected to the iMac's FW 400 port to the
iMac's internal HDD.

EHDD#1 -> iMac FW 800 port -> iMac FW 400 port -> EHDD#2
Camcorder -> EHDD#2 -> iMac FW 400 port -> internal HDD

About half way thru everything, the iMac froze and I had to power down
and power up again. After I did that, it seems that the FW 400 port
does not seem to work correctly.

The FW 800 port still works and I can connect the external FW 400 HDD
to the iMac via the external FW 800 HDD and I could still use the
FW400 port to copy the video from the camcorder.

The System Profiler reports lots of FW info if ONLY the FW 800 EHDD is
connected and when an external FW 400 HDD is connected, it takes a
minute to report back only that the maximum speed is 800 bps.

What are the various things I can try to reset to try to recover my FW
400 port? Bringing it in to the Apple store is something I want to do
last, even though I have another 10 months of Apple Care coverage
left.

TIA.
