Forget the G5 Tower for the purpose of this thread, as the OP has a G5
iMac.

I just last month (Jan 2010) "upgraded" my 1.8 GHz PPC G5 iMac from
Tiger to Leopard, including the software updates, and I have had more
freezes (nothing working but the mouse pointer) that required a
restart, in 2 months, than I had in 2 years with Tiger. I don't use
much 3d party software that's likely to cause problems. IMHO, if there
is no specific need to run Leopard to support particular software,
someone who is just now upgrading to a G5 PowerPC iMac should upgrade
it from Panther to Tiger and stop until there is a specific need for
Leopard. In my case, Leopard is not quite annoying enough to expend
the effort to go back to Tiger, but if I had paid for Leopard I would
be really ticked.
