Judith, For your purposes, any older MacBook equipped with a Firewire port will do the trick. (Preferably Core2Duo.) They all have 2 USB ports as well. I personally have a previous model, the late 2007 2.2Ghz with 4 gigs of RAM, and it is a fast, solid, dependable workhorse, still capable to deal with the latest software.
Since finding a new one at this point is sort of improbable (although I wouldn't just rule it out), your best bet would be getting a gently used one.
