Well, I did attempt this once on a power supply... Let's just say more than my fingers got burnt.
I guess my advice would be to get some practice soldering before you do this. As much as you can, really. You can go all you want at a piece of pre etched pre drilled component board from radioshack, but you don't get unlimited shots at recapping a motherboard.
