I don't think you can use the Macbook to connect to the internet. I have tried it my iMac 333 and it would not connect like that no matter which OS it was running. My suggestion would be to buy an AirPort card (around $25-$35 on eBay) and use a WiFi network so it would use less cables and would be simpler to work with. Also, the best OS I think would be 10.2. It runs great on my iMac and it only has 160 MB of RAM.
