According to a quick Google search, the JVC Everio saves files in a non-standard format that uses a .MOD extension. Here I'm assuming that you can connect to the camera OK, but are seeing your videos saved as .MOD files. Preliminary research seems to indicate that if you simply rename the file from <whatever>.MOD to <whatever>.MPG, you should be able to open it in Quicktime. Let us know if you have any problems renaming the file.
