If you like the Xbox controllers, you can actually hack them to USB, download a
nifty driver, and you're all set. I did this for my brother, and it works great
on all our Macs. Note: I don't know if this works the same with the wired Xbox
360 controllers, but I think it does.
1: Get a used Xbox controller in good condition at a thrift store, eBay, etc.
and find an old useless USB cable.
2. Cut off the end of the Xbox controller, and cut the end off the useless USB
cable. (You won't be using this controller with an Xbox anymore.)
3. Strip the wires and match the colors. They're color coded oh so
conveniently. There'll be one leftover cable on one of the ends, that's
actually ground. I don't think you need it, but you can connect it to the
ground shield on the USB cable. Solder (or securely twist) them together. Tape
the connection with electrical tape so that the wires don't short.
4. Download the Xbox HID Driver for Mac OS X, and configure to your taste.
5. Play your games in style!

This is a great way to get a really nice controller for a super good deal.
Computer controllers just don't have the same quality that game system
controllers do. Perfect for serious gamers. :)

Alternately, just about any USB PC controller will work. Logitech's peripherals
are very Mac-friendly, and Macs just support & work with that kinda stuff. They
tend to be cheap, though, and lack vital buttons.
