Greetings Nici
One thing that you might also want to do is open the Activity Monitor,
it is located in the ~application/utilities folder.
Once opened, select Active Processes from the drop-down menu
selection.
Then click on the "CP" at the top of the processes display. Click so
that the process with the most process is at the top.
With the Activity Monitor open you will be able to see which process
is consuming most of the processors time.
If Safari is using more than 60% of the CPU (unless down-loading a
URL) the perhaps you should consider reloading Safari.
One way to reload Safari and not loose your bookmark data is to first
down-load and install "Firefox" and during the install process Firefox
will ask is you want to copy "Bookmarks" from Safari and/or other
browsers.
then when you reinstall Safari you can copy (during the install)
bookmarks from FireFox.
Cheers
Harry
