I have an iMac 21.5" 3.06 GHZ Intel Core i3. Orig HD 500 GB HD packed up so I took the opportunity to replace it with 1T Seagate. Now HD fan starts slowly ~ 1,000 rpm, but after half an hour or so is doing 5400 rpm. Stays there. Temp all the time is cool at 41°C. (smcFanControl says temp 0°C, 5400 rpm)
Service said HD Fan overspeed is because 1T seagate is not an Apple HD & I have to live with it. Bit of a tall one if you ask me. I have tried FanControl and smcFanControl to no avail. Would anyone have any solutions? It was really great - before. ;-( -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
