On 24" iMac with Snow Leopard, used AppleCare's TechTook Deluxe 3.1.3 on bootable DVD to run hardware checks. Upon finishing and finding everything normal (skipped surface scan), the Finder menu's options did nothing. System Preferences did not open. Used the TTDlx Restart button and that gave me the rainbow pinwheel.
Took my shower for bed. Returned to iMac. Forced shutdown with long press of on/off button. Startup with Option key gave me the hard drive and the Optical disk as choices. Picked the hard drive and, after a while, things were back to normal. On a second attempt at using TTDlx, did not see its Restart button, but the Finder Quit command led to another Quit command and then another readiness to test. What happened? Is there a more graceful way to restart to the hard drive? Al Poulin -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
