Yowtch. If you're hesitant about breaking into the intel iMac you should be triply so of tackling the G4. That was by far the most difficult of all Apple computers, laptop or desktop, to work on, IMO. I've successfully repaired expensive and delicate instrumentation from ph meters to HPLC pumps and detectors to capillary gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers and NMR's and _I_ hesitate before tackling a lampshade iMac...I'm 2 for 4 in 'Not killing the thing just by replacing the hard drive' on those. Thankfully the G4 iMacs are largely gone from here; if any of the remaining ones have issues I send 'em posthaste to our local Apple repair depot; don't even bother with 'em. I'm sure there are many folks on the list who have successfully worked on 'em...more power to them, I say! -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
