Hi All, I have an iMac G5 (17", light sensor, Tiger) that stay with a black screen after startup.
On Apple support for the iMac G5, there is a procedure for the above problem (question yes no, question yes no... ) that help put the finger on the problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2094 At the end I was left with -Look at your screen A) Is there a faint light coming from your screen? if yes, go to your Mac Store your screen is Kaput. B) Is the screen completely black? if yes, go to your Mac Store. In my case the answer was B. Notice in the B case, Apple say go to your Mac Store but do not say why... As far as I can see there is only the screen cable left (between the Fans & the HDrive)? I have push and pull on it in an effort to see the screen coming back or at least flicker a bit to no avail. I unseat the cable connector, clean it and reseat it also without any change on the screen. I have never remove all the shebang from an iMac G5, so I wonder if the screen cable is part of the screen assy or if there is a connector on this end of the cable also? Anyhow, all suggestions pointing me to the problem will be greatly appreciated as usual.
