What exactly has happened to your iMac sound? I've recently bought one of the same model, as a cheap entry into the World of the Mac, I installed an old version of iTunes, listened to some Internet radio, then a few hours later, one speaker came loose and started vibrating about, followed by the other speaker a few days later. They've basically both blown out. Since then I've got my hands on a Power Mac G4 from www.freecycle.org , though.
