What DOES it do? Does it come up to a flashing Folder/Question mark? Endless spinning gear? What model iMac is this? What OS? I assume 10.7/10.8 since you're talking about overwriting the recovery partition. No, borking a partition like that should not render the Mac unable to boot from the system DVD. If you've sufficiently messed up the drive it might prevent it from mounting via Firewire. Last, most unlikely, this isn't a Mac that originally shipped with the old 'ice cube tray' keyboard, that you're using a modern flat aluminum one? I found out the hard way that that keyboard isn't supported on older machines for doing things like booting from the DVD, since they keyboard isn't recognized until after the OS loads. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs.
