Did you sort your iMac problem?

It came to my notice lately - I have a similar problem.

The advice to replace the PRAM battery is the right advice!

You can open the trap door with a coin (after switching off and laying the
iMac on its face) and c
arefully extract the little battery you can see through the trap door. A
nbew one will cost oyu about £4 maybe from Maplin or Amazon perhaps.

See

 *Primary lithium battery*

*LS 14250*

3.6 V Primary lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2)

High energy density1⁄2 AA-size bobbin cell

its again not impossible to replacve the new one and maybe your iMac will
start again like new!
