One of the things to watch for is not an IMAIL issue, but rather a
firewall/IP issue. IMAIL defaults to port 8383 so that it does not
interfere with a web server running on the same machine (web servers usually
default to port 80). I have a number of customers who complained to me that
they could not retrieve their mail using the web interface from their work
(behind a firewall), they would click a hyperlink and the browser would just
time out... Application level proxies or port based firewall filtering both
would require a special filter to be set up to allow this port to be
accessed from behind the firewall... Many of these new "all-in-one" services
provide filtered access as they presume the most naive are running their
equipment (so do I). Changing the IMAIL server to run on port 80 will
resolve that, as it will simply show up as another web site (that happens to
deliver mail as its content) on the web. This means you have to use a
dedicated IP just for this (or at least no standard web site on the same
IP). I tested this and found that heaps more people could get in that way
from work or where ever that used firewalls, proxies, or caching servers. I
have not implemented that yet and am not really sure I need to for what I am
doing, but I thought it might be of use to you in your efforts to reach more
fertile minds (:->). (Fertile minds staring at TV now have keyboards on
their laps?)
