When I turned off the setting in IMail to send all mail through remote
gateway, it seemed to work normally. However, this is in an environment
where WebShield and IMail were running on the same server.
I strongly recommend you find another solution, however. Unless you have a
very small user base, WebShield is going to bog down your server something
terrible. We were running it with IMail 4.07 on a Pentium II 350 (not
Celeron) with 256M PC100 ECC SDRAM and an 8GB UDMA 33 hard disk. With a
user base of approximately 1300 at the time, our CPU was pinned at 100%
utilization a good portion of the time. After removing WebShield from the
equation, the CPU didn't have enough to do.
In my opinion, WebShield does more harm than good. Unless something has
changed dramatically with it in the past two months, I'd stay away from it
entirely.
