With the blackout from MCI last week there have been several
delays in mail all over however most of our cleared out the
last couple of days. I had very few delivery failures from this
one.
>From what I can see, the changes with registry.com and the
others cranking up their root servers things are a little out of
whack. I would say that will only get worse before it gets better
though. Even AOL is going in the root server business. So
you can imagine what a mess that will be.
Remember the Bell breakup? This is even nastier and affects
a lot more people.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Problems with outgoing mail -- INTERNIC?????
Has anyone else had customers calling over the past few days with messages
about bounced outgoing email, or inability to receive some (but not all)
inbound mail? On another list, there have been rumors of Internic root
server delays and failures lately. Customers sending mail repeatedly to aol,
msn, hotmail, and getting DNS messages back that no such host exists.
I know that sometimes mail servers are unavailable, but these customers and
their email destinations are too far widespread and have nothing else in
common.
I have faxed copies of inbound mail attempts to our virtual hosting
customers with 550 host unknown messages. When I query our DNS server, they
answer immediately and correctly, so I am assuming that something is wrong
at the root server level.
Anyone else seeing this?
