Is anyone using SQL7 here successfully for the Imail database? -----Original Message----- From: Ahmed Ossama [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 1999 5:01 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [IMail Forum] SQL Database or NT Database Hi All, I am new to this list and I am currently evaluating changing our existing mail server to IMail. We have an SQL Server that is holding all our customers records. I selected the External database option in IMAIL and created a view in the SQL database to match the fields required by IMail. This is the best choice for us because we won't have to duplicate our customers records. I really need to know from your experience whether it's reliable to use the External Database feature in IMail or is it better to use the NT database or may be the IMail database. The concern came because when I created the view in SQL Server and pointed IMail to it, whenever the SQL service is restarted, I had to restart the IMail server. I don't know if this is normal or is it something I missed. For some reason the ODBC Connection does not refresh. And this is critical because if for any reason the SQL server was restarted, SMTP connections to the server will yield an "Unknown User" error. Which is a disaster for an ISP. Thanks for your help. --Ahmed Ossama ___________________________________ InTouch Communications Services 3 Mussadak St., Dokki, Cairo 12311, Egypt Tel: +20-2-3376407 Fax: +20-2-3376480 Mobile: + 20-12-2154942 URL: http://www.intouch.com Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
