I beleive they bdc sends a pulse every 12 minutes, that starts replication
if needed. Replication can take place sooner, if enough changes are made.
(I am pulling the 12 minute number out of arcane memory, you should probably
check Microsoft's technet website for more info, I could very well be
wrong). The replication process has a lot of bizarre variables that can be
tuned in the registry. There a couple of good articles about how to tune
this process. Most relate to minimizing WAN traffic over a network, but
should fill you in on what you need to know.

Also, once replication starts it could take awhile if you have thousands of
users and lots of password changes.

I have IMail running on a NT BDC. IMail is pulling its accounts from the NT
domain user accounts.
Here's an annoying problem I just encountered: whenever the users account
password expires on the NT domain and they are forced to change it, they
are not able to use their mail until the BDC synchs up with PDC, thereby
updating the password on IMail.
Anyone know how often a NT Domain synchronizes its user databases on all
BDC's; or how often IMail checks with the NT domain for changes??
