Due to the problem encountered with trying to
replace DLLs (smtpsec) that are still loaded even though the service has been
stopped, I use the following without a problem:
1) using imail administrator, create a registry
backup file.
2) change all imail services start-up from
automatic to manual.
3) reboot
machine.
4) verify no imail services have started.
5) copy c:\imail folder to c:\_imail.
6) install imail, select upgrade option.
7) configure imail via control panel applet.
8) configure web messaging via the start/prgrams/imail/web
messaging option.
9) selected services will now be running.
10) test
the system by sending and receiving mail.
11) test the web messaging at :8383
12) check the services and make sure the smtp and pop services
are set to automatic. Others are fine - but smtp and pop at a
minimum.
