Hi,

I would like to know if I can set up the IMAIL server so that users can send
messages in Japanese through IMAIL's web interface.

When sending a message from web interface, I observed the following.

1. Send a message with body containing only us-ascii character.

Header contains
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii"

2. Send a message with body containing Japanese (double byte code)
character.

Header contains
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

In this case, I can read mail in Japanese under web messaging interface but
if I retrieve same mail with regular Japanese mail client, body is
illegible.

If I send a message through mail client which can handle Japanese, Header
contains either of the following and I can read mail through web messaging
interface without any trouble.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-2022-jp"
        OR
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-2022-jp"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Has anyone come up with any workaround for this or do I have to give up web
messaging capability if my user want to use Japanese??

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hideki
