My company is in the process of migrating our
clients from our old mail server (MAIL1) to our new Imail server (MAIL2).
The two are located on different machines. Our DNS is on the
same server as MAIL1.
I've added a virtual host for one of our client to
MAIL2, but have not added their users yet. The MX record for their
domain still points to MAIL1. However he received an error message from
MAIL2, which I would have thought shouldn't be talking to anyone for this
account since the DNS still points to MAIL1.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe a
user that is using MAIL2 (such as myself) is trying to send him messages and the
server is trying to resolve it locally before checking the DNS. Does
anyone know if this is correct.
Sorry if I'm being to vague here. I'm still
an IMail newbie.
Thanks,
Nelson
