A lot of ISP's are limiting outbound SMTP to their own
servers. Not sure of all the major players but it has greatly
reduced the number of dialup-SMTP SPAM on my server.

Saves me the trouble of putting them in the block myself.
They can just as easily simply set their outgoing SMTP server
to Mindspring's and it will work fine.

By limiting outbound SMTP connections to their own servers
they can hopefully nail spammers before it gets out of their network
too. Notice how Mindspring's advertisements now boast spam
filtering as a value-added service?
