Yes. looks like DNS was the problem but I was unable to fix it.
Finally it worked with the following change.
I changed my MX record to reflect the IP address as opposed to
the FQDN.
May be some expert can suggest what should ideally be there in DNS?

I have following entries on the right panel of DNS server:
jhopri.com  A  209.9.223.110
jhopri.com  MX [10] jhopri.com
mail        A  209.9.223.67
mail        MX [10] mail.jhopri.com
www         A  209.9.223.110

Still sounds like a DNS problem.  Check the A record that the MX record
"@domain.com" is pointing to, check for spaces, typos, etc... also look for
other MX records with lower priority in you DNS table.  If putting the A
record for domain.com in as you described fixes the problem, then there is
something fishy in your DNS I am sure.  Perhaps a bigger DNeSpert will offer
some advice.  What is the domain name?  perhaps we can look and offer
suggestions.
