I am trying to establish a definitive guide to what works/doesn't work
with regard to imail, attachments and various clients.

The following are of immediate concern to me (ie. I'm going to spend time
trying to explain them to users for sure)

1.
Netscape messenger has a 'feature' (referred to in Imail knowledge base as
'chunking') which means messages with attachments in an imap folder
cannot be read unless copied to a local folder (size doesn't matter :-)).
The suggested fix of editing prefs.js worked on one pc with with NS 4.61
but failed on three others (1 x 4.7 and 2 x 4.61) so this is not much use.

2.
Outlook (98) scrambles attachments on messages if the messages they are
attached to are forwarded.

3.
Messages to multiple recipients sent from Outlook 97 cannot be read except
by an Outlook 97 client. (they seem to get RTF'ed).

4. Netscape requires .doc attachments to be saved then read
whereas from IE , word will be fired up straight away.
(this is a minor irritation)

Anyone any suggestion ideas about the above or anthing else they can add?

(Personally I use Netscape messenger with pop3 access - other IT staff use
Outlook Express)

TIA

Ronan
