We're not looking to compete with the price cutters/free isp's. We are doing
it to retain customers who move out of our direct service area, and to
provide service to area businesses who have satellite offices located
elsewhere.
Obviously the numbers aren't as great as when using already paying for
lines, modems, bandwidth, etc. but since we are not in a major metro area we
don't have to be as competitive on price. Don't get me wrong, we have to be
competitive and until recently we were one of the most expensive (for our
basic month to month plan) in our area. But we offer superior support and
service and are a long establish business (37 yrs). Plus, we have been
building, selling and servicing computers before Gates dropped out of high
school. So we have other money streams.
My biggest problem is dealing with consumers/businesses who complain about
poor service from others yet won't do anything about it.
