We're using Veritas (nee Seagate) Backup Exec with the Open File Option to
backup our IMail server. Works generally without a hitch. Sometimes we get
an OFO error 'cause we run short on disk space, but files are usually backed
up when open at that time. I have successfully restored a user's corrupted
mailbox from the tape, but have not had to rebuild a crashed server (yet).
The program is Byzantine, and prone to unhelpful or cryptic error messages,
but this is a minor quibble. Not cheap, and they just went to a
pay-for-service support model :-( So it goes.
