1.2.3.4:<port> > IMail will have one domain, our master domain having the mx record. > This confuses me, in terms of, that SmarterMail must have the same > domain holding all users and Mailboxes. Any idea, what to do? A local domain is a local domain. To transport mail from service-to-service in your scenario, you use a "routing domain" which is used internally to push the mail from IMail to SM; such a domain might be smartermail.example.com. You'd load your SmarterMail users into IMail as aliases (this is the kind of thing that my ldap2aliases and exchange2aliases scripts do, and I can easily dash up a txt2aliases equivalent for you if you can only export the SM users to a text file). The script automatically points each IMail alias @example.com to the same username @smartermail.example.com. Since IMail is sending all mail through SM (per your first query) SM will receive the mail and drop it into the local mailboxes.
