When I have run into something like this in the past, I have renamed the
infected mbx file to main_old.mbx.  Then when they look at this folder in
webmail or in IMAP they can take care of sorting things out.

If the mbx file has an infected e-mail in it, then they need to scan from
their machine if they have a program that will do so - OR - you will need to
just not scan the /users directory with an on access scanner.
