Umm..a PST file should never go over 2GB as it becomes unstable.  2GB is the
theoretical/and tested maximum.

We tried that, but our users complained of Outlook being slow to respond
(these users all have pst's that are at least a gig and some are over 2)
when the pst was stored on the network.  We also had to contend with
laptops that couldn't connect to the network when outside (we have vpn
but they usually just need email and with multigig pst files it was
slooooooooow opening Outlook from the file server).  The DLO creates
local backups of the user files on the laptops until it detects that it
is connected back to the network, then it uploads the backups to the
central server.  Believe me we tried many things in order to not have to
pay Veritas more moola, but in the end the DLO was the only thing that
worked for us.
