We have looked at HIPAA compliance issues and even had an email audit done
of our medical system email.
There are several solutions out there, some that do passive encryptiona nd
some that do active encryption. One of the best that I have seen is from
Kodak believe it or not. The other system that looked fairly robust was from
ZipCorp.
Feel free to contact me for more info.

Subject: [IMail Forum] OT: HIPPA Compliance
Has anyone been involved in HIPPA compliance? We are in the process of
coming up with a strategy to encrypt PHI (Personal Health Information)
emails and attachments. I suppose we could have each of our users install
PGP or something like that, but does anyone know of a way to do it at the
server? Not all emails need be encrypted, so there would have to be a way
to designate whether an email should be encrypted or not. I'm worried
about all our people having to manage their keys and whatnot, so a
server-based system, that integrates with Imail or Declude (and Outlook?)
would be nice. Any suggestions?
Kevin
