Title: Tarpitting recommendations needed

A request from a fellow SAV SMTP user, please complain to Symantec, I have tried to plead for this function from them for sometime to no avail.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Tarpitting recommendations needed

We are getting killed with dictionary attacks.

This is our current setup.

All inbound mail goes through a Symantec Mail Security for SMTP server running the newest version.  Then the mail is forwarded to our IMAIL server for delivery.  IMail server is running version 8.2.  We have the IMail server set to drop the connection after 3 invalid-user email attempts.

The problem that I see is this.  If IMail had the ability to tarpit, it would tarpit my SMTP Gateway not the offending user.  Symantec software does not have a tarpitting feature yet.

Is there any software, keeping cost in mind, which would tarpit mail on my Symantec server?  Or could you suggest a better low cost solution?
