For better understanding of what's going on here in this thread, are the T
and D and Q files mentioned here the same as the *.SMD files in the spool
directory, just starting with the letters T or D or Q or whatever?
The only files I've ever seen piling up there would be D files, and I
normally delete any of those files that have been left in the spool
directory for at least a week. Usually by then if there's been a problem
with one of those messages it has already been noticed. Then again, our
server only works for a smaller company with a fraction of the users that
some of you have.

Jumping in here late and not reading all the posts, but T files are not
orphans per se', rather incomplete transmissions. As such, Imail never told
the sending server or client that that message was received OK and
gracefully ended the session. As such, the sending server or client will
retry to send until successful.
