DNS Timeout is the time IMail will wait for a response from DNS before it results in TempError

Max number of redirects is the maximum number of times IMail will query another SPF record (this occurs when there are INCLUDE or REDIRECT directives is a SPF Query. Each include or redirect counts towards the max, when it is hit the result will be Error

So the actions you have defined under TempError and Error would occur in those 2 situations

Subject: [IMail Forum] How to understand advanced settings in SPF of ICS 2.0?

Dear all,

There are two settings in SPF of ICS 2.0, I have low knowledge of SPF, and so I have more doubts about this, would anyone help me?

1.      DNS Timeout (in seconds). Sets the total amount of time between DNS record checks (lookups).

After this period the incoming mail is regarded as spam? Or release the regarded spam and recheck DNS again?

2.         Maximum number of redirects. Sets the maximum number of redirects allowed when an SPF policy is queried and evaluated.

After this number the incoming will be regarded as spam?

Thanks in advance.

With best regards

Jobs Zhao
