I was able to duplicate this using ICS V2 and am checking using
2006.01.
I'll report it as a problem, if 2006.01 has no effect. 2006.01
does not fix
this...added to defect database.

As a work around, it appears you can create an alias like
"techno_man" then
using regedit, rename it to "techno.man".

As for user accounts, I've created and used ones with a "."
without trouble
with both versions.

Subject: [IMail Forum] alias error

I tried to add 'techno.man' as an alias for a client and I get an
error that
says:

Validation Error
Alias Name must be an alphanumeric string

Is this another bug or can we no longer create aliases like this?
It also
begs the question of creating an email account with a "." in it.
