Hi Kevin,

Yes, we're working on a newer security model that is currently in testing.
We are planning to test it out internally and with "expert users" before
publishing and making actual changes in the product. This document will
outline permissions you have to set for a user if you do not want to use the
IUSER set to full permissions.

What's an "expert user"?

Well, Ipswitch, as a company, has switched over to the agile development
methodology which means that we moving towards smaller and more frequent
product releases. The most common methodology is Waterfall where you build
up a large Product Requirements Document and then work on it for say 12
months and then release to the public. But under agile, you time box your
work into cycles. At the end of each cycle (our various product teams are
either 3 or 4 weeks), we demo all the work accomplished in the past 3-4 week
cycle (called "sprints" in the agile word) and in some cases, release the
build to expert users. The demo is for internal employees (dev team, qa,
doc, sales, etc.) but is also resellers and customers.

The customers who participate are what we call "expert users" (they attend
via online webex session) and after the sprint demo, we field questions,
suggestions, etc. directly to the Product Development Team. We have done
this successfully with our WhatsUp product line and we're now introducing to
our Messaging and Collaboration product line. The Expert Users are usually
more expert and proficient with IMail/ICS and essentially commit to asking
questions and contributing ideas/feature requests.

How can you be involved? You have to sign up as an expert user and then you
will be invited and sent links with toll free phone number to join the
monthly sprints.

More details coming in the next week or two but we plan to invite expert
users to sign up for the next sprint demo which will be in mid February.

Bye for now,

kg
