We tried it with Blackberry, and learned that 8.1x, at least, does not
support the IMAP IDLE command. We could never get the phone to talk to
server in a reliable way.
We solved this problem by using the "dot-comma" forwarding method
(.,[EMAIL PROTECTED]) to forward his mail to his address at
Blackberry. This gave him a copy of all his messages on his Blackberry as
well as leaving a copy on the server for his return to the office.
Apparently, he was able to set his Blackberry account to "reply-to" his
normal domain's email address. He loved the solution.
We had another customer for whom we set up [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a
double forwarder ([EMAIL PROTECTED],[EMAIL PROTECTED]). That way he gets
only mail from folks who know his Blackberry address on the Blackberry, but
he gets all his mail in his normal account regardless of which way it was
addressed.
One point: No spaces anywhere! dot-comma means ., not . ,
