I got a virus alert back from my last reply with the zip/text attachment so I thought some may not have received it so here's a repost with the link to the port forwarder I use.
My apologies, Doug --------------------------------- > thanks for the run down, Thanks, my coworkers call me "the preacher" due to my gettin' a little wordy at times. :o) My grandfather wrote books so I must have inherited his genes. > Can I ask how you did this. > > "I set up a port redirector on the demo server and pointed demo:143 to > production:143 ..." Sure, fairly easily. There are many utilities that will do this on varying levels of permanence. I used a little java app from sourceforge to do it and simply ran it in a command prompt window. You have to edit the config file with the port you want to forward. Edit the bat file to point to your java install path if you need it. Its contents are: 07/07/2005 12:35 AM 40,368 JPortForwarder . jar 02/02/2006 04:18 PM 528 ports.txt 04/04/2002 08:55 PM 817 Readme.txt 02/02/2006 04:17 PM 113 run . bat 04/10/2002 08:52 PM 207 run . bat.old You can get it yourself from sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/jportforwarder You can also get another one from sourceforge http://portfwd.sourceforge.net/ You can also install a server app called LanSuite by Software 602. http://www.software602.com/products/ls/ It has a full range of server functions that you don't need if you already run server apps, but they can be turned off, :o) Most importantly, it also has a port forwarding function that can be modified via gui. I'm running it at home for my family's web/email server and it runs as a service and has so for years with no problems. >From their site "Please note, the 5 user version is FREE for commerical and non-commerical use!"
