I tried it and you are right.
I wonder why it faied before. Are there any options that could cause that
behavior?

Not my experience, which is why I set them up this way. I discovered
this when recycling DNS. If the DNS service was already off, the
execution would halt.
Well, test it and you'll see that isn't the case. Only a shell-level
error, not simply a different return code, would cause execution to
halt.
